About Us

Julie DeLuca

Therapeutic experience: As a counsellor and psychotherapist I welcome and respect an individual’s uniqueness and diversity and believe I’m able to respond to each situation differently and with empathy. I’m experienced in providing therapy for men and women of all ages, people in relationships whether as a couple or in a polyamorous relationship, families, blended families, children (age 11+), clients who are straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, white, black or mixed race and from many nationalities and cultures. Clients may be religious, atheist, agnostic or spiritual but through the journeys with my clients, what I’ve found to be a common factor is how they value greatly the feeling of being relaxed and comfortable in the space they share with their counsellor. It’s not always easy to talk about feelings and emotions, but I will offer you a safe and confidential place where you can talk and where I will accept you for who you are and without judgement. I’ve had the privilege of working therapeutically with clients on a wide range of issues, including low mood and depression, relationship and sexual issues, addictions, domestic abuse, bereavement and grief, anxiety, sexuality issues, long term illness, childhood trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I believe that many of us, at some point in our life, can experience feelings that may conflict with and affect our behaviour and affect how we may respond to situations. These feelings can often be managed well but occasionally can cause us to struggle, become disengage and possibly become distressed, making us feel unsure of who we are and how we see our future developing. Counselling can be an opportunity to explore your concerns with me, without bias and in a way which you may not be able to do with your friends or family. We can work together so you’re able to identify ways you’re able to improve your wellbeing and help you make the changes in your life that you would like to happen.

Corporate experience: As an experienced and qualified HR professional having worked with many companies, PLCs and SMEs I have provided life coaching to employees who have experienced a loss of motivation and direction, and who are not engaged in either or both their workplace and personal/social environments. As a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (ACIPD) I see my role as being able to work with employers and their employees to explore options in providing solutions for employees to engage, helping them to work in a safe and responsible way to achieve their potential and more. In the past I have been in roles as an employee and business owner where employee engagement has been instrumental in promoting a positive work environment, productivity, motivation and team cohesion. I truly believe we all have the power and potential to flourish in life and in the workplace, but sometimes we may need a little help and guidance to maximise our ability to progress and succeed.

Training: Currently 1 in 6 employees is experiencing mental health issues which may be stress related, depression and/or anxiety and which has the ability to massively impact on an employee’s performance during working hours.  Companies perform better when their staff are being supported through mental health issues, achievements can be greater when employees are healthy, focused and motivated.  I offer and deliver bespoke training for managers, teams and individual employees to help them to recognise when a colleague may need support and to sensitively approach this in the workplace.

Therapeutic Experience: When you don’t feel well within yourself this can affect your relationships, your performance at work, your studies and your general ability to get on with life and enjoy it. There are many different reasons why we sometimes seem to get stuck, I have worked with a wide variety of people to help them work through a range of issues including bereavement, general anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, depression, eating disorders, sexuality, HIV status, relationship problems, bullying at work, poor self-esteem and low confidence, childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual assault, menopause, domestic violence and debt problems. I work in a person-centred way using a variety of therapies to help people to work through their issues. This means I won’t tell you what to do but I will help you to explore your options in a warm, safe and friendly environment.

Clinical Hypnotherapy: Many of us often experience trance states during the course of our lives. Even when you start to fall asleep involves a kind of trance state. The experience of hypnosis is similar: neither asleep nor awake and a little like daydreaming, with a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation behind it all. Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness which you can naturally enter so that, for therapeutic purposes, whilst you are in this very relaxed state, your unconscious mind can work on the problems you have identified. Realistically no-one can be hypnotised against their will and even when hypnotised, a person can still reject any suggestion so you do not lose your sense of morals or values. Hypnotherapy is a state of purposeful co-operation between the therapist and the client.

I can offer hypnosis combined with psychotherapy (hypnotherapy) for general relaxation, stress, tension, nail biting, phobias, fear of flying, driving confidence, snoring (better for partners of snorers), sleep disorders, low confidence, weight control, giving presentations , performance anxiety and stopping smoking. Hypnotherapy sessions can last up to 1.5 hours and generally cost £100 except for stopping smoking which is a single session (up to 2 hours) with a complimentary session after two weeks. Stopping smoking costs £250. If you’re not sure about hypnosis give me a call and I can explain what happens in a session and answer your questions.

Coaching Experience: I am an experienced coach and have provided life coaching to people who may not have an issue to “fix” but want to get some clarity and direction in their lives. I’ve also provided leadership coaching to those wanting to improve their performance at work or explore solutions for dealing with difficult issues. I am qualified to provide personality profiles using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and to use the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict mode instrument to help people to understand and develop their preferred ways of dealing with conflict.

I believe that we all have the potential to be ourselves and to live satisfying lives but sometimes we just need a bit of help to get there.
